How To Successfully Hold A Karate Tournament

By Sandra Roberts

Every game has its rules and respecting these rules is just as important as having the skills for the game. A karate tournament can be successful or fail to be successful, depending on how prepared the organizers are. Many karate lovers would love to see an event that they will always remember and even the players themselves will only feel that there was fairness if the game was without question. However, the process of getting to this successful event is critical.

It is common knowledge that any tournament is not an event but a process. Just as it is in the political circles where elections are not events but processes, in the same manner, any championship begins when the key stakeholders assume office. Thus, make sure there is an open office in place to govern this game, from the way the players train to the day the best among them carries the trophy. Hence, number one is the enactment of official authority.

When it comes to putting together the teams, commonly known as pooling, there must be complete fairness. A particular team or play should not be given an undue advantage over the rest. To avoid such a scenario, all persons of interest must never take part in that process. If someone who is directly linked to a given team or player is part of the pooling team, make sure you agree on ground rules to avoid unnecessary conflicts.

Every participant must adhere to the laid rules and regulations. Teams and individual players must be given rules that must be adhered to by all the participants. To ensure that no conflicts will arise, especially those that are as a result of unjust management systems, the regulations must cut across the board. Players, their coaches, and even sponsors need to trust the process to believe and accept the final results.

Referees are the game moderators. They are a very important element of the championship, and when the game is on, they are the final judges. You must agree on who becomes the referee, any qualifications and training and such things. Have people with a good track record in order to eliminate the chances of biases.

Above everything mentioned above, there is the point about the objectives of a game. You, as the organizers, must be clear about what you want to achieve through the championship. When that happens, it helps to direct the game and let people know what is there for them at particular stages or at the end of it all.

Again, other than just objectives, people love incentives. Let everyone know what is in for them so as invest their time and money with the ultimate prize in mind. Incentives could be in terms of money, sponsorship, trophies and belts, global tours, among other things.

Hence, the degree of success for any championship depends on the level of preparation, the quality of the team that is in charge of the process and also the structures that are in place. Whenever you are tasked to hold such events, remember to find experts who can guide you and your colleagues and help you achieve the success you desire.
